Permata Hati stands for “Persiapan Melahirkan Anak Tabung Harapan Suami Istri” (Delivering IVF Baby Preparation – Couples Expectation) which is a special program from dr. Sardjito General Hospital / Medical Faculty of Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta Infertility Team. This program’s aim is to manage infertile couples from a simple method to the sophisticated one, which is now known in the world such as Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) IN-VITRO FERTILIZATION, INTRA-CYTOPLASMIC SPERM INJECTION, etc.

HISTORY

The idea to master the In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) technology emerged around the year 1989, initialized by the inauguration speech of Prof. Dr. Sumiyati. A team of doctors—consisting of dr. H. Moch. Anwar, SpOG, dr. A.R. Amino Rahardjo, SpOG, dr. Ibnu Pranoto, SpOG, dan dr. E. Suryadi, SU—endeavor to bring the idea to fruition.

Motives that base the idea are as follows:
1.    The infertility number in Indonesia is 12% or around 3 million married couples (Prof. Sudradji Somapraja, 1984).
2.    About 70% of infertility cases require advanced treatment.
3.    Around 400,000 infertile married couples are in Yogyakarta and Central Java.
4.    Birth control methods using contraceptives, the increasing numbers of fertilization acceptors, getting married and pregnant at a later age, and the increasing trend of promiscuity results in the increase of infertility numbers that advanced infertility treatments and support are required.
5.    To date, there are no infertility centers in Yogyakarta and Central Java.

The idea gained support from the Medicine Faculty of Gadjah Mada University and Dr Sardjito Hospital with the issue of

on the formation of  the Infertility Team of Dr. Sardjito Hospital/Gadjah Mada University Medicine Faculty.

The team was given the task to effectuate IVF Services known as Program Permata Hati. In its execution, Program Permata Hati is mobilized by dr. Moch. Anwar, SpOG as the Program Leader and dr. A.R. Amino Rahardjo, SpOG as the Executive Manager.
Since 1994 the Permata Hati Clinic has been developing the Artificial Insemination Program and the In Vitro Fertilization Program. The first birth from the IVF Program was in 1997.

The infertility treatment technology of Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection has been developed since 2000, and the first baby resulting from that program was born in 2001.

From 2002 the Permata Hati Clinic expands by establishing the Cytogenetics Lab for chromosome analysis, and the development of gamete and embryo freeze storage/vitrification.

PERMATA HATI CLINIC MISSIONS are :

1. To develop and to increase handling ability of infertility cases with the technology implementation which have applied in some advance centers.
2. To increase the service quality of infertility cases through an effective, complete and integrated services.
3. To develop and to increase handling ability of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) in DR. SARDJITO GENERAL HOSPITAL YOGYAKARTA.

PERMATA HATI DR. SARDJITO GENERAL HOSPITAL / MEDICAL FACULTY OF GADJAH MADA UNIVERSITY Policlinic is handled by an Infertility Team which are appropriate to their field such as reproductive endocrinology expert, obstetrics and gynecologist , culture expert, Andrologist , reproductive immunology expert, reproductive micro surgery expert, psychology, etc.

PERMATA HATI Policlinic has been able to give the examination and handling services of infertility cases from the simple to the sophisticated one.
